I first want to emphasize that I don't advocate any form of sexual slavery nor do I support human trafficking for any reason including prostitution. I also believe a person should be 18 years or older before they can decide to become a prostitute. In addition, people shouldn't become prostitutes for the wrong reasons such as to support a drug habit. I don't fully agree with Nevada's model where the owner of the brothel makes most of the profits off of any encounter and these brothels are restricted to remote areas. I do think there should be screening of prostitutes (and possibly clients) to insure they are not infected with a Sexually Transmitted Disease and the clients should be required to wear condoms similar to how Nevada handles it's brothels. I also think that prostitution should be restricted to certain areas so that you don't have prostitutes at every street corner looking for clients. I don't think clients should be required to travel several miles to a remote area to be able to be able to legally engage in prostitution nor should any profits go to the owner of a brothel or other place where prostitutes can legally meet clients. The prostitute should be allowed to work independently and retain all profits. With this said, let me explain why I think prostitution should be legalized.
Everyone wants to enjoy some quality time with a significant other who is usually a member of the opposite sex and spend the rest of their lives with someone. The sad part is not everyone can enjoy the company of someone. Especially having a lifetime partner which you almost need if you want to have a sex life. In fact some people (such as me) cannot even get a member of the opposite sex to go out with them just for a dinner date! For every woman there are 1.02 men worldwide (2,234,860,865 men vs 2,187,838,153 women) in the age group 15-64 years old according to the CIA and in some areas the ratio of men to women can be much higher leaning towards even more males to females (good news for women). In addition, there are other factors such as the percentage of women who are single, and your age (the younger you are the more single women there are out there for you). For the majority of men, there is a woman available for them but out of every 100 men there are at least 2 men who simply don't get to enjoy the companionship of a woman. Unfortunately, I'm one of these 2 men for every 100 women who simply doesn't get to be with a woman for the rest of his life. Two men for every 100 women may seem insignificant but this adds up to a total of 47,022,712 (over 47 million) men worldwide who will never enjoy spending their lives with a woman. I would love to be married to some woman but this isn't possible for me, I can't even find a woman who will go out with me on a dinner date so how can I possibly find a woman who will be willing to spend the rest of her life with me? I have Aspergers Syndrome (not saying all people with Aspergers don't marry but it makes it more difficult to find women especially males), I'm only 5'1" when all women are looking for the "tall, dark and handsome" men who are at least 5'8" tall (even the lesser attractive women and short women), I'm 40 years old, and I'm not very attractive looking and plenty of women have let me know this as they have rejected me. None of these defects were chosen by me and it was hard when I did believe in God to question why he would do such a horrible thing to me by building me with Aspergers Syndrome, a short stature, and make me ugly looking so I can't compete with the average guy. I now know that God doesn't exist and the notion that everyone will find someone who loves them is one big fairy tale. A large percentage of people may find a lover but not everyone. When you are one of the 2 for every 100 men (over 47 million worldwide) who are unfortunate, your life is one giant hellhole and you really wish you could die from loneliness and long for the love that only a woman can give you.
This is one of the main reasons I believe prostitution should be legalized. Everybody wants to enjoy the companionship with a member of the opposite sex but not all men have this option! If only I can offer a woman who is willing to be paid to at least spend some time with me and let me enjoy things that only the fortunate men can do such as having dinner with a nice woman and even having sex. It makes me laugh when people complain that they don't get enough sex in their relationship. Be thankful you get sex at all! There are some people in this world who don't have the chance to even go to dinner with a member of the opposite sex! We would be more than happy to trade places with you since at least you are getting some sex! The two out of 100 men who are denied the chance to enjoy the rest of their life with a woman are already suffering, should they be further punished by facing loneliness and no contact when members of the opposite sex? If you think these men should be further punished, you are sick! It is painful to be the unfortunate who women simply don't want!
Another reason I believe prostitution should be legalized is because of the fact that it is illegal. For most people who are hurting for sex or just a dinner date, they need to find a prostitute through the black market. The black market prostitution that is going on makes it dangerous for people who are just looking for someone to temporarily fill the permanent void left by being one of the unfortunate men. Currently people who decide to become prostitutes do it to support drug habits which as I already said is not the right reason someone should decide to become a prostitute and most of the unfortunate men don't want to be with an addict. We prefer women closer to the average woman that the fortunate men can enjoy their time with. With prostitution illegal and restricted in areas where it is legal, it has made it cost a fortune for the unfortunate people out there to seek the best and only substitute for a loving relationship. Everyone wants to be in a loving relationship but not everybody can have such a relationship and prostitution is the closest the unfortunate can get to having a loving relationship. With prostitution illegal, the women who engage in prostitution are in a situation where they must hide what they do for fear of being arrested. In addition, they are usually "owned" and their "owner" takes most of the profits that they earn. Their owner is more interested in making more money than the general welfare of their prostitutes and prostitutes are exploited to the point that they are having as much sex as possible to maximize their "owner's" profits. If they were allowed to work independent of an "owner", they can decide how often they see clients and how often they will have sex. If a prostitute decides she no longer wishes to be a prostitute, she can't simply leave. Their "owner" may turn them into the police or even kill them for wanting to leave. Prostitutes risk being abused by not so kind clients since they cannot just call the cops if someone rapes them or sexually abuses them. They will probably get into more trouble than the client who abused them! If prostitution were legal, a client can't simply rape her or sexually abuse her since the prostitute can legally press charges against this person without the risk of being arrested. Nobody should have to endure being raped or sexually assaulted including a prostitute! In addition, denying someone who is not fortunate enough to enjoy the companionship of a woman a chance to enjoy at least some companionship with a woman is the cruelest form of punishment I can think of.
Legalizing prostitution will remove prostitution from the black market since there isn't an incentive to make money when someone can legally seek out a prostitute. Nobody wants to break the law and if people who decide to seek out a prostitute for at least some form of encounter with the opposite sex could do it legally they would do it the legal way rather than risk being arrested. Sex is a basic need and the people who are not fortunate enough to find a woman willing to be with them will seek it somehow and currently they are forced to go through the black market or drive somewhere in the middle of Nevada. It isn't practical for everyone to drive to Nevada and the brothels in Nevada really aren't the best model for how legalized prostitution should be. In an ideal world nobody would have a need for a prostitute but we don't live in an ideal world and the population statistics I cited earlier prove this. The fairy tale that there is one woman for every man is what every other fairy tale is, a story that is false!
It's interesting how prostitution is considered so wrong but other sexual activities are okay or not considered as bad as prostitution. Why is prostitution illegal but an attractive man can go to a bar for one night stands with women even if he is married. Not all men can get women to spend a night with them but would really enjoy the companionship and physical intimacy with a woman but the unfortunate men can't do it legally. Law enforcement looks the other way when it comes to polygamous relationships but they set up sting operations to catch prostitutes and possible clients all the time! Why is it considered more moral for someone to have one night stands with women (especially if the person is married), or have multiple wives but paying for a sexual encounter is one of the worst sins you can commit? Why is prostitution considered a more serious offense than people who have multiple wives? You don't see the police doing polygamous stings and it isn't illegal for someone to have one night stands with several women even if they are married and doing it without the knowledge of their spouse. Why is gold digging (seeking a wealthy spouse) legal? Isn't this prostitution since the marriage is based on money and the bride is marrying this person because of money? What's the difference between someone marrying for money and someone paying for a sexual encounter other than paying for a sexual encounter is illegal? Isn't it just as wrong to marry someone for money?
